BISAC: Juvenile Nonfiction / Animals / Dogs
Bingo needs a new home, and the O’Neil family are looking for a new dog. The series of five short stories, begins with how Bingo and his new family are brought together at a local Dog’s Rescue Centre. Our main characters, Mum, Dad, Annie, and Dave O’Neil, who feature in each story, soon fall in love with the newest member of the family, Bingo Dog. Although Bingo is the most loving dog you could ever meet, he has a particularly adventurous spirit, which gets him into all sorts of dangers and difficulties.
Each short story tells of an occasion when Bingo finds himself in a place where he isn’t meant to be. He has an encounter with a shiny blue car, gets lost in the forest, endures some unwelcome attention from a pair of boisterous dogs, and accidentally runs away from home! During these times the O’Neil family decide to keep calm and ask for God’s help. Through each story, children learn that we can find peace, help and guidance in times of challenge.
The stories are written for 3-8 year olds and they are based on real – life events. Younger children will love having these stories read to them by an adult and older children will enjoy reading the stories for themselves.
