BISAC: Fiction / Christian / Fantasy

Lloyd Ambrose was a social misfit. His timid, wounded spirit precluded him from the relationships shared by his peers. His only comfort zone was his volunteer ambulance work during his senior year of high school in the late 1970’s. Then a patient, with his dying breath, calls Lloyd to Jesus and nothing is ever the same. Christians began coming into his life from everywhere, and after nearly a year he is immersed in their influence.

Together they are plunged into a battle for the souls of men and women in the tiny town of Nettleton. As the realities of light and darkness intensify, Lloyd must dispense with the façade of the believer and humble himself before the Almighty. After choosing the side of light and life, the troops appear fully mustered and in place as the closing battle draws near.

Finally after weeks of murders, grave robbing and mass deceptions, the campaign closes on a deserted mountain top in the smoldering aftermath of a widespread forest fire. But the old charlatan a giant of a man named Toshawnka, has one more intimidation to draw on. He has not been fully operating under merely his own abilities. At his proper time he discloses the name of evil spirit that has been guiding his actions. And even the godly shudder at the guttural sound of, “Burden.”

Lloyd is the youngest and newest believer of those on the front lines, is chosen as the human instrument of Toshawnka’s undoing and a miraculous Old Testament style deliverance is served up.
